Storm Event Update Power Outage Payments

Date Published: 13/06/2012

A second big storm front crossed the southwest of the State yesterday evening. Western Power says there are approximately 27,000 homes without power and nearly 10,000 of those remain off from the weekend.

These homes are now a priority for network repairs and reconnection. About 750 homes and businesses remain without electricity within the City of Rockingham.

If you have been without power for 12 consecutive hours or more, you may be eligible for an $80 payment from the
State Government's Extended Outage Payment Scheme (EOPS). The payment has been doubled to $160 for those without power for more than 48 hours due to Sunday’s storm.

Several roads in the Rockingham area are currently still closed due to power lines and or trees and debris down. Do not proceed down a road with a power line down. Please contact Western Power on 13 13 51 to report critical power hazards such as damaged power poles or cables:

• Doghill Road intersection with Horseall Road (trees and power lines).
• Noonan Road intersection Park Drive Cooloongup (powerlines).

If your home has structural damage like a badly damaged roof or flooding, call the SES on 132 500.
