Storm Event Update Marine and Coastal Safety
Date Published: 12/06/2012
Our Coastal Engineer and Conservation Officer inspected our foreshores and coastal areas for damage and erosion yesterday. They are recommending that residents keep clear of beach and coastal areas particularly the Rockingham foreshore area between Wanliss Street and Railway Terrace.
Pathways and dunes have been eroded and may not be safe to walk on. The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting high tides and residents should keep off jetties until the next storm front expected this afternoon has passed.
Vessel owners whose boats were washed ashore in Mangles Bay and Cockburn Sound have been notified by the Department of Transport’s Marine Safety. Emergency moorings are available in Mangles Bay. If you see a vessel that has washed ashore telephone:
Department of Transport Marine Safety Emergency: 1300 863 308 or 9431 1000
