New Mapping Tool for City and Community
Date Published: 3/06/2011
The City of Rockingham yesterday launched a new online mapping tool for use by the community.
Mayor Barry Sammels launched IntraMaps in an online demonstration through the City’s website. He described the main function of the IntraMaps application, which is to allow site visitors to access relevant and accurate area data in a simple and intuitive manner: “IntraMaps is a powerful web based GIS data viewer, which has been developed over the past 10 years.
“It is now in use by more than 60 organisations across Australia and New Zealand. As part of Council’s focus on good Civic Leadership, IntraMaps offers current and potential residents of the area a vast wealth of useful information about the municipality.
“The features of the IntraMaps public service include an easy to use, intuitive user interface where current or potential residents can access neighbourhood information such as the nearest parks, schools, child care facilities, veterinary clinics, council services and community centres.”
Intramps also offers users more detailed information such as electoral and planning information as well as Council services, and the location of Heritage sites.
