Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Brand MP Gary Gray, visited Rockingham on Wednesday to announce $7million in Federal funding to build a new GP Super Clinic for the area. It will be located on the corner of Civic Boulevard and Central Promenade, Rockingham.
Deputy Mayor, Deb Hamblin, attended the launch and said the announcement represented a significant victory for the community: “This is fantastic news for Rockingham; I am so pleased that our residents will be able to benefit from the integrated care the new super clinic will offer.
“This will be one of a planned 60 super clinics to be constructed around the country and will provide much needed additional GP services to the region and offer residents easy access to a variety of healthcare and chronic disease management services under one roof.
“The City welcomes the move; and the Super Clinic will support the health of our rapidly growing population.”
The Rockingham Kwinana Division of General Practice has been awarded the contract for the GP Super Clinic, which is expected to be constructed within the next 18 months.
GP Super Clinics are a key part of the Gillard Government’s new National Health and Hospital Network – an essential element in building a stronger primary health system.
