2012 Nyoongar Art Awards now Open for Entries

City of Rockingham Mayor, Barry Sammels today invited Artists of Nyoongar heritage, living and working in Nyoongar country to submit art works to be considered for the ‘Respect Yourself, Respect Your Culture’ 2012 Nyoongar Art Awards: “I would like to encourage some of our very talented local indigenous artists to submit an entry in this year’s Nyoongar Art Award.
“Presented in partnership with the Town of Kwinana, and supported by Healthway, this year’s Nyoongar Art Awards has more than $20,000 in prizes to be won for established, emerging and young artists.
“The Awards will be showcased at an exhibition, curated by Nyoongar artist Sharyn Egan and the full program will include workshops with Nyoongar Artists for school children in the Rockingham and Kwinana areas.
“Entries are now open and must be received by 5pm Friday 19 October. The Curator together with a selection panel will assess and select artists to participate in the Award Exhibition.”
