Swim around the Sound and beyond
Ever considered swimming around Warnbro Sound? What about the mighty Avon Descent? Why not try swimming it in your local pool? The City of Rockingham and the Rockingham Aquatic Centre are setting you the challenge to 'Swim Around the Sound and Beyond'. It's easy! Simply:
- Complete and hand in a registration form
- Swim and count your number of laps
- Place your name and number of laps on our form.
Swim Around the Sound and Beyond is a great way to start and stay being active during the warm summer months.
The program is very simple. Participants register at the Rockingham Aquatic Centre and choose their 'virtual' challenge, such as swimming around Penguin Island (4km), from Mersey Point to Bird Point (10km), to Rottnest Island (20km), around Garden Island (30km), the Bass Strait (97km) or the more challenging swim of the Avon Descent (133km). At the Rockingham Aquatic Centre participants endeavour to swim an accumulative total of laps to equal their chosen distance.
One of the most positive aspects of the program is that participants choose their own pace and times to achieve their distance with no additional fees from the normal pool entry. There are also some fabulous giveaways and prizes to be won and it is easy for participants to register and check their progress. For further information contact the Rockingham Aquatic Centre on 9527 2592.
This program will commence on Monday 24 September 2012.
