Rockingham: Our City, Our Future
Help shape Our City, Our Future
Consultation is now completed.
Looking ahead for the next 20 years and beyond, the City is preparing a Local Planning Strategy to guide the growth and development of our City, as well as protecting what the community values most about Rockingham and surrounds.
Titled Our City, Our Future the Strategy will build on community and Council's shared vision of Rockingham becoming one of the safest, most liveable and sustainable cities in the nation. It will also provide a "blue print" for the City's new Town Planning Scheme.
The City sought the community's feedback on four key areas in order to determine the land use planning issues both now and in the future:
- Housing
- Employment and Economic Development
- Community Health and Wellbeing
- Environment and Heritage
All feedback is currently being analysed. A draft report will be considered by the Council in early 2013. Following adoption, the report will be made available for public information. |

Next steps...
The Local Planning Strategy will be a three to four year process and will be supported by a series of themed discussion papers that will be released to the community at each stage of the Strategy development.
The Discussion Papers will include an assessment of a wide range of planning themes and consideration of previous studies, reports and planning strategies.
The end of the process will be a Local Planning Strategy that is adopted by Council and endorsed by the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC).
