Citizenship Ceremonies
The Department of Immigration and Multi Cultural Affairs (DIMA) deals with all citizenship applications. You can find more information about applying for citizenship by visiting their website http://www.immi.gov.au/ or by calling 131 880.
The Council is not informed of your application until it has been approved by DIMA so no information on the application is available from the City of Rockingham.
The Ceremony
- Rockingham Council holds citizenship ceremonies on the first Tuesday of each month, except January. The January ceremony is held on Australia Day.
- When your certificate is received you will be allocated the next place at one of the coming ceremonies.
- Private ceremonies with the Mayor are only granted in extenuating circumstances and are considered on a case-by-case basis. Enquiries for a private ceremony can be made to the Mayor’s Secretary.
- Invitations to the ceremonies are sent out approximately three weeks prior to the event.
- Dress for the ceremonies is smart casual.
